Course Description:
Effective method of teaching, critical thinking, problem solving as the tool of the method of teaching, writing the lesson plan, producing the lesson media, handling the class, evaluating and measure of the productivity of the student, new technology for effective teaching and learning. Students are required to take at least 135 hours practicum while taking this course.

Course Objectives:
Students should be able to:
1. Acquire broad views of education concerning teaching and learning within a level of their responsibility (ies): university, high school, middle school, primary school, or kindergarten.
2. Apply the latest trends and the effective methods of teaching in their respective classroom.
3. Apply the theories and knowledge learned in the class to actual work situation.
4. Gain sufficient experience in preparing lesson plans, instructional materials, activities, and assessment of students’ performance through the 135 hours of practical teaching.
5. Develop opportunities for reflection, critical thinking and problem solving within the framework of theory and research in their field of study.
6. Achieve useful educational experiences that will be benefit to the students in the future.


Teaching and Learning Strategies:
1. Orientation and planning to practicum teaching at respective schools
2. Discussion of the method of teaching and the preparation of lesson plans, lesson media, and the evaluation.
3. Supervision of actual classroom teaching.
4. Organizing of seminar in order to report an individual professional teaching at the end of practicum course.

Course Requirement:
1. Teaching practicum, of at least 135 hours, including with one course syllabus, ten unit plans and ten lesson plans.
2. Proposal approval is required before going out for practicum. (2nd week of the course)
3. Lesson plan and lesson media is required before going out.
4. Monthly progress report. (23 Nov 10, 28 Dec 10, and 25 Jan 11)(oral+paper)
5. Practicum portfolio. (22 Feb 11)

6. Organized the seminar at the end of the practicum course. (22 Feb 11)
Student without the submission of assignments will get the grade of “I” (incomplete). If there is no submission of assignments within a month later, the grade of “I” will be automatically transformed into grade “F”.

Course Assessment:
Students are required to submit the portfolio for the collection of the following outputs based upon the due assignment:

Grading

A = 90 – 100% C+ = 65 – 69%
A- = 85 – 89% C = 60 – 64%
B+ = 80 – 84% C- = 55 – 59%
B = 75 – 79% D = 50 – 54%
B- = 70 – 74% F = 0 – 49%

Note: Student with the grade lower than B will be considered as failed in this course. In that regard, student has to take this course again in order to meet the program requirement.

From week ninth to week fifteenth, course instructor will evaluate each student on teaching practicum of at least one time. Appointment is required. There are no classes along that period.
